Diabetes Education aims to provide people living with diabetes with the skills and resources so that they can manage their sugar levels and maintain healthy habits. Our Credentialed Diabetes Educator has undergone post graduate training and credentialing processes to provide educational sessions to anyone with any form of diabetes including:
During a Diabetes Education session you can expect a thorough assessment of your diabetes history, blood test results and medication review. A personalised management plan will then be formulated on an individual basis and will commonly include;
- Dietary Recommendations. You will be provided with resources on recommended foods, carbohydrates, portion sizes, snacks, healthy eating out options, how to cook healthy meals and more
- Exercise Guidelines: You will be recommended on exercise guidelines to help manage your blood sugars
- Education on how certain medications work and guidance on how to take medication including Insulin and other injectables. Your Diabetes Educator will work closely with your GP or specialist to work out the best regime for you
- Technology: There are now many apps and medical devices that are available to help people with diabetes manage their sugar levels.
- NDSS registration:
- Blood Glucose Monitors: These monitors are available and education can be provided on how to use them
