Ingrown Toenails
Treatment for Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown toenails are a common problem.
They can be caused by incorrect footwear, incorrect nail cutting, picking at nails or by an inherited nail shape.
Often an ingrown toenail reoccurs... :-(
Fit Foot Podiatry offers a range of treatments, which can involve permanent removal options.
Depending of the severity and presentation of the ingrown toenail, your Podiatrist may:
- Remove the offending piece of nail
- Advise on cutting technique and nail care
- If the area is too painful to touch you have the option of a local anesthetic which allows the Podiatrist to remove the nail piece without pain
- If the problem is recurrent then nail surgery may be appropriate. The Podiatrist performs this and will advise you of the treatment if required. Partial nail or total nail removal is available. This can also be a permanent option.
